Wyman Meinzer, Official Photographer of the State of Texas, and photographer for Inspiration Texas Style, as well as a multitude of other books heralding the state, has been on the road recently with his wife Sylinda, publisher for Badlands Blue Star Publications, to promote the new volume! Some of the locations they have visited include Wichita Falls, Texas, Blue Star Trading in Hico, Texas, a Rick Hardcastle Fundraiser, among others, each of which include a presentation surrounding the book and a signing opportunity!

This weekend, Wyman and Jerod Foster, designer and partner in publishing for Badlands Design and Production, visited the Texas Star Trading Company in Abilene, Texas, as well as The Old Graham Post Office and Art Gallery in Graham, Texas. The two locations were both welcoming and full of great people, eager to speak with Wyman about the book and his career!

Welcome to the official blog for Badlands Blue Star Publications! We are proud to create our first post revolving around the release of our highly-anticipated book, “Inspiration Texas Style!”

“Inspiration” is the newest addition to Texas State Photographer Wyman Meinzer’s catalog of publications that document and characterize the state in which he and many others call home. Along with introduction author and Texas literary icon, John Graves (Goodbye to a River), Wyman highlights the state visually and verbally. Here is a selection from the acknowledgements:

“I must admit that my Texas occupies that special niche in my soul known only to those who were born and reared within these recognizable borders. In this work, Inspiration Texas Style , we have chosen to ask a cross section of Texans to express their own feelings of what this state means to them. In a few cases, verities uttered long ago were from those not born in Texas but came later, their voices echoing a desire for inclusion beneath the title of Texans. By pairing each verbal offering to images collected here, we hope to focus on both the rich visual heritage that our state offers to the American theme and also to recognize a collection of personal prose whose authors possess a definite sense of place. “Inspiration Texas Style” has already been heralded by reviewers, and it has been highlighted by magazines such as Southern Living (Editor’s Choice Christmas 2008 Gift Guide) and Texas Monthly (December 2008 issue), and articles regarding the book and Wyman will soon appear in Cowboys and Indians and Outdoor Photographer.
